The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
